Group 1 VRC Oaks Day Preview and Tips

Day three of the Flemington carnival and the rail has been the place to be throughout. Track manager Mick Goodie confirmed a part of the track approximately 10m-14m was far worse going and those running there would be disadvantaged. The rail sticks at 2m for Thursday and I will be focusing on those that will be on the rails in the straight. Inclement weather may hit Thursday morning which will further deteriorate the track. Currently a Good 3 we will likely see that downgraded into the Slow range early in the day.

We saw the boys do battle is the VRC Derby on Saturday and now it’s the girls turn. Total prize money of $1,000,000 with the winner receiving a $600,000 pay cheque.

A couple of Group races down the straight prior to the Oaks means a fairly uninspiring day from my point of view. We have an exclusive Luxbet offer for readers. Receive a $150 bonus bet when a new account is opened with a $50 deposit. That will make the day more exciting!

Race 4

Group 3 Gucci Stakes (3yo F) 1100m

The first straight race of the day and I’m favouring early favourite Secret Agenda. She has finished no worse than second in her three starts this campaign and will be close to the fence from barrier 4. Looks very tough to beat. Petite’s Reward was wide throughout at Moonee Valley last start and will finish far closer this time. Barrier 1 also means she will be on the fence. Minetti is a last start maiden winner when leading all the way as is Zara Bay in what should be an easy kill for Secret Agenda.

Secret Agenda

Petite’s Reward

Zara Bay

Secret Agenda is your early favourite at $5.00 and represents huge value along with Petite’s Reward at $31/$8.50. Both worth a bet. Some money has come for Zara Bay and Riapinka.

Race 7

Group 3 G.H. Mumm Stakes (M) 1100m

One for the older ladies and this is far tougher with so many engaged. I was keen on Lumosty last start when she resumed and just scored the win for us. She has the class and has won down the Flemington straight before so I will stick with her. Miss Promiscuity has never missed a place over 1100m and from barrier 5 should be on or near the fence. Dublin Lass resumes for the Snowdens and is a very consistent performer and I Am Gypsy looks for her fourth win on the trot after making the trip from South Australia.

Lumosty has been the only shortener and is into $3.10 after opening at $3.50. Stick with.

Race 8

Group 1 Crown Oaks (3yo F) 2500m

There is absolutely no pace in this race which will favour any frontrunners even more so. It’s tough to predict who will go forward and I can only see Ritzy being a certain frontrunner. Sacred Eye pushed forward from a middle barrier and I’ve got her doing the same from barrier 9 today. Very tough to beat from there. Honesta has drawn wide and I can only assume they will look to go forward from there with the lack of speed. She will be right there especially if other fancies are stuck near the tail. Jameka was a smart winner at Moonee Valley and hopefully also pushed forward. Ambience got a dream fence run to win on Derby day which won’t happen today.

G1 Crown Oaks Tips

Sacred Eye

This will be a tactical race and all relies on your horse’s settling position. Sacred Eye has drifted out to $3.80 from $3.00. Money has been for Jameka ($4.60 – $4.00) and Pasadena Girl ($12 – $10). Sacred Eye should be winning.

The carnival is almost over so remember to take advantage of our exclusive Luxbet offer while it lasts. Good luck and good punting.
