Read our detailed preview of the main races at Caulfield this Saturday. We include best bets and predictions for each race.
Caulfield Stakes – Race 6
Only two challengers will take on Winx in the Toorak Handicap on Saturday.
Winx ($1.15) is aiming for it’s 12th straight win. Hugh Bowman will ride the Mare again this week.
Black Heart Bart ($4.80) is the second favourite in a three horse race. The runner has been in great form recently over the last few months with 4 wins and 5 seconds in the last 9 races.
The third runner in this race will be He or She ($31.00). In its last race, He or She came second to Black Heart Bart at Caulfield (1800m) two weeks ago. At $31.00, He or She is the outsider of the race.
Best Bet: Hard to see Winx at $1.15 getting beaten.
Value Bet: 3-1-2 Boxed Trifecta
Thousand Guineas – Race 7
Foxplay ($2.50) is the current favourite to win the Thousand Guineas. Foxplay has won its last two races at Randwick over 1400m and 1200m.
Global Glamour ($4.80) is the second favourite after a great win last week at the Randwick Flight Stakes (1600m). Global Glamour defeated highly favoured Yankee Rose.
Whispering Brook ($9.00) raced well early in the year at Ascot with four straight wins in March and April.
Best Bet: Global Glamour is racing well and at $4.80, he’s our best bet.
Value Bet: Legless Veuve and La Luna Rossa.
Caulfield Guineas – Race 8
The dual early favourites to take out the Caulfield Guineas is Impending ($4.60) and Divine Prophet ($4.60).
Impending ($4.60) is a sire to Lonhro and it recently won a race at Rosehill two weeks ago, defeating Divine Prophet.
Divine Prophet ($4.60) is the current equal favourite in the Guineas and came second to Impending last race. Its last win came on the 20th of August this year at Randwick in a 1300m race.
Sacred Elixir ($6.00) won its last race at Caulfield on the 24th September 2016 at 1400m. He averages the most prize money of all runners in this race ($79,739).
Good Standing ($6.00) is another good chance for the Guineas and has come in from $7.50. He came third to Impending and Divine Prophet in Race 5 at Rosehill last run.
Evacuation is the early market mover coming in from $11.00 to $7.00 fixed odds with Luxbet.
At $11.00, Hey Doc offers great value for punters. Hey Doc has won its last three races, two at Moonee Valley. Both wins came over 1500m+ and the horse has a 57% career win rate. The knock on Hey Doc will be the tough barrier of number 13.
Toorak Handicap – Race 9
The early favourite is Hes Our Rokkii at $4.00. He deserves favouritism after winning its last four races at Caulfield and Randwick.
Next in the betting is Bon Aurum at $5.00 and Tosen Stardom at $6.00. Bon Aurum has won its last two races at 1400m. While Tosen Stardom has a few runs overseas in the last year before racing at Moonee Valley last month where it finished fourth.
Other challengers include Counterattack which has come in from $10.00 to $8.00. Royal Rapture ($12.00) has won 6 of its last seven runs.
Best Bet: In an open field, we’re tipping Hes Our Rokkie to take home the win in a tight finish. Watch out for Counterattack as the early market mover.
Value Bet: Royal Rapture or Counterattack is worth an each way bet.
