AFL Betting Preview – Round 18
Round 18 kicks off with another classic battle between the Crows and Cats. On Saturday afternoon, the Demons face the Power in a top eight matchup. The Swans look to continue their form against the Saints on Saturday night. Sunday’s best match is the Tigers versus the Giants at the MCG.
Bet for Free previews the two best games of AFL Round 18, 2017 and we provide our best bets for each game.
Adelaide Crows vs Geelong Cats
Adelaide have won four of their last five matches and will be looking for revenge against the Cats. They’ve lost the past five meetings and lost by 22 points in Round 11.
Geelong have won three of their past four matches, including a draw against GWS. They can move into top position on the ladder with a win.
Sloane and Lever could miss this match with injury. While Walker and Vince were reported on the weekend.
With a 6 day turnaround, the Cats may rest Dangerfield after injuring his foot last match. Scott Selwood and Andrew Mackie were late outs last week and will likely struggle for this one.
Last 3 meetings:
Round 11, 2017
Geelong defeats Adelaide 96-74
Round 18, 2016
Geelong defeats Adelaide 85-55
Round 8, 2016
Adelaide defeated by Geelong 72-98
The Cats have won the last 5 by 22 points or more. They also won the last meeting at Adelaide Oval by 26 points. However, they have a number of injury concerns this week and this should be a closer matchup.
Geelong average 102 points per game in 2017 and Adelaide average 114 points. In the Crows last two matches, they’ve kicked over 100 points. They have two goal scorers with over 40 goals this season. While the Cats have three players with over 30 goals.
This is the Crows best chance to beat the Cats with the injury cloud over Dangerfield. They’ve lost just two matches at home this season and we can see them ending their losing streak against the Cats.
Best bet: Crows 1-39 ($2.10)
Value bet: Adelaide Lead at End of Each Quarter ($2.45)
Richmond Tigers vs GWS Giants
Richmond returned to the winners list with a win over the Lions. They have a 3-1 record in the last four matches and almost upset the Giants in the last meeting.
GWS Giants lost against the Swans last week and they haven’t won since a 60 point victory over the Lions. Yet they still sit third on the ladder at 10-4-2.
The Tigers are looking injury free.
Jeremy Cameron was a late out last week and could be out against the Tigers. Matt de Boer will likely miss with concussion as well.
Last 3 meetings:
Round 9, 2017
GWS defeats Richmond 78-75
Round 19, 2016
GWS defeats Richmond 111-23
Round 14, 2015
Richmond defeats GWS 78-69
The last meeting at the MCG between the two sides was a 9 point margin in favour of the Tigers. But the Giants haven’t played at the MCG since early last year.
Both teams scored over 70 points in the Round 9 meeting. The Giants have been kept under 100 points in their last three matches. At the MCG this year, the Tigers average 87 points scored.
The Giants haven’t won a match for a few weeks ago and they barely beat the Tigers last time. Richmond should enjoy facing them at the MCG and we think they can win this matchup.
Best bet: Tigers WIN ($2.20)
Value bet: Tigers 1-39 ($2.50)
