Bet for Free previews the two best games of AFL Round 13, 2017 and we provide our best bets for each game.
West Coast Eagles vs Geelong Cats
West Coast return from the bye in Round 13 after losing three matches in a row. They’ve slipped out of the top eight in the process and face the third placed Cats in a crucial match.
Geelong won their last three matches at home and travel to Perth for the second time this season. They can move into second place on the ladder with a victory.
Josh Kennedy is at long odds to return in this one after injuring his calf before the bye. Sharrod Wellingham should return and Scott Lycett is a 50/50 chance at playing.
Tom Hawkins is missing for the Cats after suspension. The Cats are mostly injury free for this one and will be fresh off the bye.
Last 3 meetings:
Round 7, 2016
Geelong defeats West Coast 123-79
Round 9, 2015
West Coast defeats Geelong 120-64
Round 4, 2014
Geelong defeats West Coast 107-32
The closest margin has been 44 points in the last four matches so these teams haven’t played a close game for a while. Both teams are missing their key forward in this match so scoring options will be tougher.
In the last two meetings, the winner has scored 120 or more points. In the last matchup at Subiaco, the totalled reached 184 points.
Richmond Tigers vs Sydney Swans
The Tigers meet the Swans in an important clash on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
Richmond are fourth on the ladder and can cement their spot in the top four with a win. They have a great record over the Swans at the MCG with 4 wins from 5 meetings.
The Sydney Swans are back in finals contention after winning 4 of their last 5 matches. They have the best percentage in the bottom eight and can jump as high as 11th with a victory.
The Tigers have a few players coming back in the VFL but probably won’t make many changes are winning two in a row.
Garry Rohan missed last week with illness and should return. Kurt Tippett dominated in the twos and should be in contention. Jarrad McVeigh is also a chance of playing.
Last 3 meetings:
Round 23, 2016
Sydney defeats Richmond 164-51
Round 8, 2016
Richmond defeats Sydney 101-100
Round 13, 2015
Sydney defeated by Richmond 77-95
Taking out Round 23 last year, the margin has been under 20 points in the last 4 meetings at any venue. The Tigers won by a point in the last meeting at the MCG, which was after the siren.
The total points in the last meeting at the venue was 201 points as both sides kicked 100 or more points. The Tigers average 89 points per game, while the Swans average a tad higher at 90 ppg.
The Tigers are one of the Swans bogey sides (1-3 since 2014) but both sides are playing well currently. If Alex Rance can keep Lance Franklin away from the goals, Richmond will go a long way to winning. We think this will be close and would back the teams to score over 80 points as the best bet. We’re also backing Dustin Martin to dominate the Swans and score 120+ AFL fantasy points.
Best bet: Both teams to score 80 points ($2.15)
Value bet: Dustin Martin 120+ fantasy points ($2.15)
Other Round 13 best bets:
Kangaroos vs Saints
Best bet: Kangaroos 1-39 ($2.60)
Power vs Lions
Best bet: Brad Ebert – 120+ fantasy points ($2.50)
Suns vs Blues
Best bet: Blues +17.5 ($1.91)
Bulldogs vs Demons
Best bet: Demons +10.5 ($1.91)
