We preview the 2017 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 24.

Star Turn – $4.20
Star Turn is the current favourite to win the 2017 William Reid Stakes. She has finished third in her last three races and comes off a 12 day stint. She’ll be starting in the three barrier and will be ridden by Dwayne Dunn.

Sheidel – $5.00
Sheidel has the best career winning rate of all the runners in this race (54% and 75% place rate). She won the Oakleigh Plate last month after a 91 day spell. Then she followed with a fourth place in the Newmarket at Flemington. She’ll be ridden by Blake Shinn.

Hellbent – $7.50
The Darren Weir trained stallion Hellbent has been rested for a month after a couple of 4th placed finishes at Caulfield. Hellbent has an excellent first-up record with 3 wins from 5 starts.

Silent Sedition – $9.00
Silent Sedition has been an early market mover, coming in to $9.00 from a starting price of $14.00. She has finished in the top two in her last three races, including a win in the Mannerism over Thames Court.

Rebel Dane – $9.50
The 7 year veteran is coming off a 102 day break. Rebel Dane has an impressive first-up record, from 9 races he has 4 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds.

Humidor – $4.20
Humidor is a great value bet in this race. He comes with a win at the Australia Cup over Jameka and Exospheric. Rain is expected at Rosehill and Humidor has a great record on soft/heavy tracks. From 7 starts on slow tracks, 2 wins and 3 seconds, while heavy tracks – 1 win from 1 start.

Tavago – $5.00
He won the Sky High Stakes last race at Rosehill two weeks ago. Blake Shinn will get the ride again. Tavago has a career win rate of 36% and a place record of 55%.

Exospheric – $9.00
Since an eighth finish in the Melbourne Cup, Exospheric has finished third in the Australia Cup and sixth in the Peter Young Stakes. He has a 1-0-2 record at this distance.

Vinery Stud Stakes

Foxplay – $3.40
Foxplay has an impressive wet records with 3 wins and 2 seconds from 7 starts. She won the Phar Lap at Rosehill two weeks ago by 0.30 lengths. Hugh Bowman rides her again after placing second in the Lightfinger last month.

La Bella Diosa – $5.00
She had a tough outing in her last race, finishing last in the Coolmore Stakes. Her form before that race was 4 straight wins in New Zealand and Randwick. She has a great record in the wet, with 2 wins from 3 starts.

Dawn Wall – $5.00
Dawn Wall is a solid value bet after winning her last three races. She beat Lubiton in her last win by 0.40 lengths. Also, she has the best career win rate in the race at 75%.

Lubiton – $6.50
Lubiton is an outside chance for the Vinery Stud Stakes. She moves up in distance to 2000m and finished second to Dawn Hall at the Kembla Grange Classic two weeks ago.
