Rosehill Race 1
CABRA-VALE DIGGERS (BM72)
Distance: 1300m
Race Time: 12:10 PM

GEM SONG is looking likely to be favourite in this. Resumed with a fresh-up third after two wins prior campaign. Make it your anchor. SP: $3.80.

ROYAL CELEBRATION has good credentials leading into this race. Is resuming, and should be right in this. SP: $6.80.

LADY OF SHALLOT is a stablemate of Gem Song, but maybe a fraction behind in class. A win and two thirds from three starts, she hasn’t been out of the money yet. Kerrin McEvoy to ride. SP: $10.00.

SKIDMAN comes up to Sydney from Victoria and maybe is in search of better track conditions. From the Ciaron Maher stable, not without a chance. SP:$9.00.

BFF Picks: Gem Song, Royal Celebration, Lady Of Shallot

Rosehill Race 2
TAB HIGHWAY HCP (C2)
Distance: 1500m
Race Time: 12:50 PM

RISK AND REWARD appears to be leading the betting in a big field with many chances. Is five wins and placings from seven starts, should enjoy the expected good track, but first time over 1500m. SP: $3.40.

THINK LIKE A FOX is the Goulburn trained four-year-old mare who looks like a genuine prospect. Brings good form into the race and appears to be well placed in the betting. Keep safe. SP: $7.00.

RAPTURE MISS the Canberra mare looks like the improver in the race. This will be her third start back with a win and a sixth, the latter at a Sydney Metro meet at Randwick. Expect a bold showing. SP: $8.50.

FOOTMARK comes to the big smoke of Sydney as a last start winner on his track down south in Albury. Will appreciate the anticipated better track conditions on Saturday. Good place claims. SP: $9.00.

BFF Picks: Risk And Reward, Think Like A Fox, Rapture Miss

Rosehill Race 3
360DMG GLOAMING STAKES
Distance: 1800m
Race Time: 1:25 PM

TARKA is the standout galloper in this small six-horse field. I’m surprised he’s not lining up in the Golden Rose, as he downed a few of those runners in his last start Stan Fox Stakes win. Gunning for fourth win in a row. Anchor bet. SP: $2.60.

PANZERFAUST looks like a handy filly on the rise. Last start defeated a nine-horse field of older gallopers but is back to her own age group this Saturday. Solid place claims. SP: $7.00.

IRUKANDJI has performed well in his return to racing this campaign. Two fourths in higher class races than this. Keep an eye out. SP: $4.00.

TAVIRUN is a likely future prospect from the Busuttin/Young stable down in Melbourne. He brings winning form into this and the distance won’t be a problem. One to watch. SP: $4.20.

BFF Picks: Tarka, Tavirun, Panzerfaust

Rosehill Race 4
JRA TROPHY
Distance: 2400m
Race Time: 2:00 PM

HARPER’S CHOICE will likely head the betting in another small field. This is a race for stayers and he should run close yet again. SP: $4.60.

GOATHLAND also holds well in the market, and his encouraging run for fourth where he encountered interference was not lost on punters. SP: $4.60.

DARK EYES Struggled in the Newcastle Cup last start racing on the speed in a fast run race. A runner-up finish in the Wyong Cup two runs back was a solid pointer for this and can bounce back.

ETAH JAMES comes up from Ballarat and could improve with the extra distance, and with this being her third run back, now is the time to show it. Has won over the distance previously. SP: $8.00.

CISMONTANE is probably the class horse of the field. Won last years Group 3 Lexus Stakes and started in the Melbourne Cup. A genuine stayer, he’ll need to vastly improve after two poor returns since resuming. SP: $19.00.

BFF Picks: Goathland, Harper’s Choice, Etah James

Rosehill Race 5
SCHWEPPES SHANNON STAKES
Distance: 1500m
Race Time: 2:35 PM

NOIRE is the pick of the bunch in yet another small field. Is never far away from the money (currently 11 win/places from 14), and rates as one of Chris Waller’s promising mares. SP: $4.00.

YOUNGSTAR is another of the Waller stable stars, and a previous Group 1 winner last season taking out the Queensland Oaks. She’ll probably start favourite based on class alone, despite a disappointing fresh-up sixth last start. SP: $3.60.

ARBEITSAM is likely to be the race leader. A very handy horse who has racked up some decent prize money for his owners (over $1 million). Remember this bloke ran third in the Doncaster Mile last season behind Happy Clapper, so he’s quite capable. If he can skip a lead, he might be the bunny they can’t chase down. Solid place claims. SP: $4.80.

TALLY is the Godolphin galloper who is resuming in this. Probably better known as a stayer in his younger days (third in ATC Australian Derby behind Tavago, winner Mornington Cup). Has won over the shorter distance, and won a recent barrier trial. Could surprise at longer odds. SP: $17.00.

BFF Picks: Youngstar, Noire, Arbeitsam

Rosehill Race 6
JHB SYND. GOLDEN PENDANT
Distance: 1400m
Race Time: 3:10 PM

PROMPT RESPONSE will be resuming in this, after winning a string of races last season including the group 1 Tatts Tiara. Is probably on the road to the Flight Stakes and One Thousand Guineas further down the road. Definite chance. SP: $5.00.

DAYSEE DOOM is one of two Ron Quinton gallopers and is a topline mare, winning last seasons Coolmore Classic. Knows the track, good at the distance, should be there or thereabouts. SP: $7.00.

DIXIE BLOSSOMS is the stablemate of Daysee Doom and has placed second in this race the last two years. Can she go one better this Saturday? It would be a popular win if she did. SP: $6.00.

CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES is another mare who has never been far away from the money. She was a bridesmaid in four Group 1 events last season as a three-year-old, hopefully, this season is when she makes the breakthrough. SP: $4.60.

INVINCIBELLA is the last start winner of the Sheraco Stakes which acts as a good lead-in to this race. She should be right in the mix once again. SP: $6.00.

BFF Picks: Prompt Response, Champagne Cuddles, Invincibella

Rosehill Race 7
DE BORTOLI WINES GOLDEN ROSE (3.y.o)
Distance: 1400m
Race Time: 3:50 PM

Looking at the field on paper, it’s not as good a quality line-up than last years field, though there are two Group 1 winners assembling for Saturday.

THE AUTUMN SUN is one of those, winning last seasons J.J Atkins Stakes. From the same ownership as Egg Tart, this colt is three wins and a third from four starts. Will be second up and should strip fitter for this. SP: $4.00

SEABROOK is the other Group 1 winner taking out last seasons ATC Champagne Stakes over the Sydney Autumn Carnival. The only filly in this years race, she was a fresh up third at Caulfield, and with Damien Oliver aboard, could give all the boys a run for their money. SP $9.00

GRAFF has got solid credentials for this, three wins and a second from four starts. From the Kris Lees stable, could jockey Jason Collett finally break his Group 1 duck on Saturday? SP: $3.10.

LEAN MEAN MACHINE won the Run To The Rose last start, which is the form-guide to follow leading into this race. Was a Sires Produce winner in Brisbane over the winter and has genuine speed and a turn of foot. Hard to leave out. SP: $ 5.50.

ZOUSAIN is a decent looking galloper from the Waller stable, probably more of a place chance at this stage. SP: $7.50.

BFF Picks: Lean Mean Machine, Seabrook, The Autumn Sun

Race 7 odds at Beteasy

Rosehill Race 8
GOW-GATES (BM88)
Distance: 1400m
Race Time: 4:30 PM

THE AVENGER looks like the form horse of the field. From the Chris Waller yard, his last four starts have been down in Melbourne, including a last start win. Should be right in it based on form. SP: $4.60.

MANDYLION, the Kembla Grange mare has good form in this recent prep. Has won twice in the wet, and is ok on good tracks too. Should go close. SP: $5.50.

ASTORIA the Godolphin galloper is resuming in this, and looms a fresh-up threat, despite the indifferent form-line. Goes well fresh and should not be discounted, especially when James McDonald is riding. SP: $5.00.

FIERCE IMPACT will be resuming this Saturday after four months off. The Warwick Farm trained galloper has good first-up form and should be considered for place bet options. SP: $6.00.

BFF Picks: The Avenger, Mandylion, Astoria

Race 8 odds at Beteasy

Rosehill Race 9
FUGEN (BM88)
Distance: 2000m
Race Time: 5:10 PM

THE LORD MAYOR looks like a top contender in the final race of the day. The former Kiwi three-year-old ran a good fourth to Vin De Dance in the Group 1 New Zealand Derby, and was then transferred from the O’Sullivan/Scott yard in Matamata to Chris Waller in Sydney. Did fail badly in the ATC Australian Derby though. Last start winner in a BM88, and should go close. SP: $5.00.

GOODFELLA is likely to be one of the frontrunners, and brings good form into the race. Was disqualified from second to third last start, but won before that, beating some of his rivals lining up in this race. Has solid place claims. SP: $12.00.

TAMARACK has been on the improve since resuming this campaign (x0532). Could go one better, but things would need to go his way. Is drawn out slightly at 11, so will need to overcome that. SP: $11.00.

ROMANESQUE is the former Irish galloper who transferred down to Australia in 2017 and is owned by OTI Racing. He’s been racing mostly on the Country Victoria circuit, and this time last year was one of the more consistent gallopers going around in Western Victoria. It’s good that trainer Jarrod McLean is starting to look further afield with this horse. Can stay all day. SP: $9.50.

BFF Picks: The Lord Mayor, Romanesque, Goodfella
