Total Match Points
The average total match points of the last six Grand Final matches has been 34 points. The total match points in the last game between the sides was 32 points.
The 31-35 points market looks to be the best value bet of the Grand Final.
Best Value Bet – 31-35 Points ($5.25)
In the previous six Grand Final matches the average winning margin has been 13.5 points. Which is just above the 13+ winning margin bet.
The Storm defeated the Sharks in Round 26 this season by 20 points. In the last 10 matches between the Storm and Sharks, the average winning margin has been 17.8 points. The Storm have beaten the Sharks in those 10 matches by 13+ on six occasions.
While in the 2016 NRL finals series since the semi finals matches, all games have been decided by a 1-12 margin. The Storm have won both finals matches by under 12 points.
Best Value Bet – Storm 1-12 ($2.80)
The Storm have only lost one game this season after leading at halftime and it was against their opponent this week, the Sharks. In Round 4, the Storm led 6-4 at halftime and the Sharks scored 10 unanswered points in the second half to win the match.
However, Melbourne still look to be the best value bet for leading at halftime and fulltime.
Best Value Bet – Melbourne/Melbourne ($2.30)
Melbourne Storm ($1.80)
The Storm finished the regular season on top of the ladder and at $1.80 are the Grand Final favourites with Luxbet. The Storm have overcome the injury to Billy Slater in Round one, to reach another Grand Final. Since joining the competition in 1998, the Storm have played in six Grand Finals. The Storm lineup is looking injury-free after last weeks win.
Cooper Cronk played his 300th NRL game last week and looms as the best bet for the Clive Churchill medal for man of the match. He’s been the Storm’s best player in 2016. Cameron Smith would be the second choice if Cronk doesn’t win it.
Cronulla Sharks ($2.05)
The Sharks are the outside favourite at $2.05 with Luxbet. Cronulla finished third on the ladder and defeated both the Raiders and Cowboys to play in the Grand Final. They have never won the NRL Grand Final.
Michael Ennis will play his last NRL game this weekend, he’s yet to win a premiership. He could be a value bet for the Churchill medal. Other choices would be James Maloney or Paul Gallen if the Sharks win the match.
Joseph Paulo and Sam Tagatease are pushing for selection in the Grand Final side if they recover from injury.
With a good recent record against the Sharks, the Melbourne Storm are the best bet for the 2016 Grand Final.
