AFL Round 22 Betting Preview 2017
AFL Betting Preview – Round 22
Bet for Free previews the two best games of AFL Round 22, 2017 and we provide our best bets for each game.
Adelaide Crows vs Sydney Swans
The Crows sit atop the AFL ladder with just two rounds remaining. They beat the Bombers by 43 points last week and thrashed the Power by 84 points previously.
Sydney trashed the Dockers by 100+ points last week and they moved into fifth position on the ladder. They’re playing for a home final and this should be a classic Friday night match.
The Crows have two injury concerns. Taylor Walker injured his foot and Rory Sloane has a leg issue. Both players will need to prove their fitness in the week.
For the Swans, Josh Kennedy is a chance to return this week. Nic Newman hurt his knee against the Dockers and could be in doubt with a six day turnaround.
Last 3 meetings:
Semi Final, 2016
Sydney defeats Adelaide 118-82
Round 4, 2016
Adelaide defeats Sydney 113-103
Round 18, 2015
SCG Sydney defeats Adelaide 117-65
The Swans won the last meeting by six goals but this figures to be a closer contest on Friday night. Adelaide won the last clash at the Adelaide Oval by 10 points in 2016.
The total points in the last match at the venue was 216 as both teams kicked 100+ points. The Crows are coming off 120+ points in their last two matches. While the Swans won by 104 points last week. This should be a high scoring one as both sides have in-form forward lines.
The Crows are the early favourites in the betting but they have a few injury concerns. The Swans are in great form and we think the best value bet is the line for them. They’ve only lost against the Hawks in the last few months and they’re coming off a big win against the Dockers.
Best bet: Swans +7.5 ($1.91)
Value bet: Wire to Wire – Any Other Result ($2.00)
GWS Giants vs West Coast Eagles
GWS produced a great win over the Bulldogs last week and they’ll be looking for another home win over the Eagles. They’re second on the ladder and a win could setup a home final for the Giants.
West Coast have been inconsistent over the last few weeks and they just beat the Blues at home last week. They travel to Sydney for this clash and they’ll need to overcome their terrible away form.
Toby Greene escaped suspension after last week and will lineup for the Giants.
The Eagles are injury free after the weekend.
Last 3 meetings:
Round 10, 2017
West Coast defeated by GWS 90-98
Round 21, 2016
GWS defeated by West Coast 96-97
Round 5, 2015
West Coast defeats GWS 120-33
The Giants and Eagles have played in two close matches recently. In Round 10, the Giants won by 8 points at Subiaco. While the Eagles won by a point in 2016 at this venue. Also, in the Giants last 6 matches at the venue, the margin has finished under 3 goals so the margin should be a 1-39 contest.
GWS kicked over 100 points for the first time since Round 14 against the Bulldogs on the weekend. They’ve also kicked 100+ points in three of four matches at home this season. With Josh Kennedy in goal kicking form, the Eagles are scoring heavily at the moment. This season, they average 90 points for and they’ll likely need to kick 100+ against the Giants.
The Giants are heavily favoured with the bookies and the Eagles have a bad record away from home this season. Which means the Giants are the best bet. However, the form of Josh Kennedy should keep them in this match. We think the best bet is the Giants by 1-39. In the value bet, Josh Kelly is in great form and we’re tipping he’ll exceed 120 AFL fantasy points.
Best bet: Giants 1-39 ($2.25)
Value bet: V Josh Kelly 120+ Fantasy Points ($2.75)
Other Round 22 best bets:
Bulldogs vs Power
Best bet: Bulldogs 1-39 ($2.30)
Magpies vs Cats
Best bet: Cats 1-39 ($2.10)
Blues vs Hawks
Best bet: Blues +20.5 ($1.91)
Suns vs Bombers
Best bet: Bombers -22.5 ($1.91)
Demons vs Lions
Best bet: Lions +37.5 ($1.91)
Saints vs Kangaroos
Best bet: Saints 1-39 ($2.15)
Dockers vs Tigers
Best bet: Tigers 40+ ($3.50)
