AFL Round 19 Betting Preview 2017

AFL Betting Preview – Round 19

We’re just a few weeks away from finals and Round 19 kicks off with the Swans against the Hawks in Melbourne. On Saturday, the Kangaroos have a great record against the Demons and could cause an upset. The Giants should bounce back against the Dockers. While the Power aim for another win against St Kilda. On Saturday night, the Tigers meet the Suns on the Gold Coast and they can still finish second. Sunday has an interesting clash between the Bulldogs and Bombers at Etihad. Both sides are fighting for a spot in the top eight.

Bet for Free previews the two best games of AFL Round 19, 2017 and we provide our best bets for each game.

Hawthorn Hawks vs Sydney Swans

Odds: Hawks $2.75, Swans $1.45

Form:

The Hawks meet their arch rivals on Friday night footy and they can still make finals. After defeating the Dockers last week, Hawthorn are 2 wins from the top eight. They’ll also take confidence from their last meeting against the Swans after they won by a goal.

Sydney’s form continued on the weekend as they comfortably put away the Saints at home. They can still finish in the top four and will be desperate for a big win over the Hawks. They’ve beaten the Tigers and Demons at the MCG this year and Lance Franklin will be keen for 5+ goals.

Injuries/Suspensions:

The Hawks and Swans are injury free from the weekend.

Sam Reid could return from injury but Callum Sinclair will make it tough after kicking 5 goals last week.

Last 3 meetings:

Round 10, 2017
SCG
Sydney defeated by Hawthorn 75-81

Round 17, 2016
SCG
Sydney defeated by Hawthorn 70-75

Round 9, 2016
MCG
Hawthorn defeated by Sydney 55-69

Margin/Line betting:

Four of the last five meetings have fallen under a 14 point margin so these teams match up well together. The Hawks are 3-0 ATS against the Swans and they’ve won two in a row. The Swans are 3-1 ATS overall in the last three and defeated the Demons by 35 points in their last Friday night match at the MCG.

Total points:

The highest score in the last three meetings is 81 by the Hawks in Round 10 this season. Therefore, this should be another 60-70 scoreline as both teams will value defence. The difference will be Buddy Franklin and whether he can kick straight.

Prediction:

This should be another cracking contest between the two sides. But we have to pick a winner and Sydney are just in better form at this stage. They’ll also be looking to finish in the top four and will be more desperate around the contest.
Best bet: Swans -14.5 ($1.91)
Value bet: Swans 1-39 ($2.05)

Port Adelaide Power vs St Kilda Saints

Odds: Power $1.24, Saints $4.00

Form:

Port were held goalless in the first quarter last week and lost by 23 points to the Demons. But they have a great record against the Saints and smashed the Roos by 70 points in their last home match.

St Kilda are in desperate need of a form turnaround after two poor performances. It’s hard to figure after they smashed the Tigers just a few weeks ago. They were well beaten last week against Sydney and will face another test away from home in Adelaide.

Injuries/Suspensions:

Chad Wingard is out for 2-3 weeks with an ankle injury in a blow for the Power.

The Saints will be missing Leigh Montagna but Tim Membrey is back from suspension.

Last 3 meetings:

Round 1, 2016
Adelaide Oval
Port Adelaide defeats St Kilda 133-100

Round 18, 2015
Adelaide Oval
Port Adelaide defeats St Kilda 112-49

Round 12, 2014
Adelaide Oval
Port Adelaide defeats St Kilda 129-59

Margin/Line betting:

The Saints have never won at the Adelaide Oval and their closest margin is 33 points in 2016, also against the Power. Port are 5-3 at home this season and they have a 3-0 record against the line versus the Saints.

Total points:

In the last three meetings, the Power have averaged 124 points for. While the Saints kicked 100 points in the last meeting, they’ve been held under 60 points in the other two at Adelaide Oval.

Prediction:

The two sides haven’t met since Round 1, 2016 but the Power have trashed them in the last three at home. They’ll miss Wingard but the Saints are also without Montagna. After the Saints last two matches, it’s hard to bet against the Power in this clash.
Best bet: Power -30.5 ($1.91)
Value bet: Power 40+ ($2.60)

Other Round 19 best bets:

Best bet: Kangaroos +16.5 ($1.91)

Suns vs Tigers
